About the sources: Emails cited here were released under the Texas Public Information Act. Quotes from those emails, including Miguel Oneto's Jun 28, 2025 email, are taken from records obtained under the Texas Public Information Act as published on the campaign's earlier timeline page, What the Public Record Shows: When Commissioner Akin Was Contacted About Wilson County Data-Center Plans. Other sources are the Wilson County News, Spectrum News, Wilson County Commissioners Court video, and Commissioner Akin's own public Facebook letter.
Summary
On the released record, Commissioner Akin had already met Mr. Oneto of Misae before Jun 28, 2025, and on Jun 28 he replied to an email about roads and sewer for "the large datacenter development."
The first major public news story (Wilson County News, Nov 4, 2025) quotes Judge Whitman, not Commissioner Akin.
The earliest on-camera public comments from Commissioner Akin that we found are in a Spectrum News story from Nov 28, 2025 (article published 9:00 AM CT; video about 8:39 AM CT). On camera he spoke about the area being in the "strike zone." He did not name Misae or Mr. Oneto or mention the Jun 28 emails. The line that the county had received "no formal information" was the reporter's narration and the article's paraphrase of what two commissioners told Spectrum. It was not Commissioner Akin speaking on camera.
The first commissioner to raise another data center in open court was Commissioner Russell King (May 26, 2026).
The campaign's public-record timeline was live on markhurd4tx.com by Oct 16, 2026.
Commissioner Akin's first public statement naming Mr. Oneto / Misae is his Facebook letter of about Oct 24–25, 2026, about 16 months after Jun 28, 2025. That sequence is the gap between knowledge and public disclosure.

What the sequence shows
- Earliest documented knowledge. The record shows Commissioner Akin knew of a "large datacenter" tied to Misae and Mr. Oneto by Jun 28, 2025, and, in his own words, had an earlier meeting with Mr. Oneto on a date the record does not show.
- First major public news. Nov 4, 2025 (Judge Whitman). That is about four and a half months after Jun 28, 2025, and we found no public briefing from Commissioner Akin during that time.
- First on-camera comments from Commissioner Akin. Spectrum News, Nov 28, 2025. He spoke about growth and the "strike zone." He did not mention the Jun 28 emails or name Misae or Mr. Oneto. The "no formal information" line was the reporter's narration and the article's paraphrase, not Commissioner Akin's spoken words.
- First commissioner to raise a data center in open court. May 26, 2026, Commissioner King.
- The campaign's public-record timeline. Live by Oct 16, 2026.
- Commissioner Akin first names Misae and Mr. Oneto to the public. Facebook letter, about Oct 24–25, 2026, about 16 months after Jun 28, 2025.
What the record does and does not show
These records show contact, meetings, and replies. They do not show a Commissioners Court vote, a contract, a tax abatement, or county money for Misae or 3Di. This article is about when Commissioner Akin knew and when the public was told. It is not about signing a deal.
Where the record is silent, we say so. If there are more records that add to this timeline or correct it, we want to see them, and we will update this page.
